U-KISS 'Action' Album Reaches #1 In Japan’s Oricon Chart

U-KISS has struck gold in Japan with their new album Action hitting #1 and earning the group a new milestone.

Action topped Japan's Oricon chart after selling 15,000 copies, reports Soompi, when it released last week on March 18, shooting up to #2 on debut day then claiming #1 the next day. The Oricon chart tracks the official albums sold in Japan.

U-KISS leader Soohyun expressed delight at their newfound success, reportedly saying, "We are extremely happy because this is the first time we've achieved first place since starting our activities in Japan."

U-KISS member Kevin profusely thanked their loyal fans, also known as KISSMEs, in Japan for helping the group climb the charts. He posted a photo of the group, minus Eli who may be filming for the Chinese version of "Full House" and AJ who is on hiatus, wearing cute pastel-colored suits while a throng of Japanse KISSME's smile in the background.

"w/KISSme in Japan! Thanks for helping us reach No. 1 on the Oricon chart! #ukiss #action #kissme #japan," said Kevin.

"You deserve it guys, I'm so proud of y'all." and "U-KISS the best!" a couple of fans on Instagram said in support of the group.

U-KISS is riding on a recent wave of popularity and musical acclaim. Earlier this month, the group took home their first-ever music award on The Show after several years of promoting as a K-Pop group. Fans have responded warmly to their 10th mini-album Always which dropped in January, featuring new songs like "Smart Love" produced by Boy Flight and with rap lyrics written by Eli, as well as their comeback title song
