A new year, a new birthday, and still no Park Bom.

Fans around the world began to celebrate the birthday of 2NE1's Park Bom on March 23 and 24 with a hashtag on Twitter, #박봄HasBloomed (#ParkBomHasBloomed), utilizing the Korean script Hangul. That hashtag went global and took the number one trend spot on Twitter's realtime chart.

On March 24 KST, Park celebrated her thirty-first birthday away from the spotlight due to an ongoing hiatus after a drug scandal in 2014. Well-wishers took to social media, particularly Twitter, to send Park Bom birthday greetings.

The birthday celebration on Twitter was intermingled with fans asking YG Entertainment for updates on Park Bom's whereabouts and news about 2NE1.

2NE1 appeared without Park Bom in 2014, but the group has not been seen together throughout 2015. Fans on Twitter posted congratulatory messages intermingled with messages requesting Park Bom and 2NE1's return to the South Korean spotlight.

Fans also showed irritation towards YG Entertainment due to the fact that the company did not celebrate Park's birthday party on social media accounts, as the company has done in the past with other artists, including a celebration for the birthday of fellow 2NE1 member CL  in February.

While Park Bom has been on hiatus, 2NE1's CL has been preparing for a debut into the American music market, Dara has taken up acting, and Minzy was spotted in the United States.
