NASCAR News Now: Caution Issue During Fontana Race Addressed As Executive Vice President Releases Statement!

The latest news about NASCAR has been having fans anticipate the next race.

This is after issues surfaced during the last Auto Club 400 race from Fontana.

During the race, driver Kurt Busch was leading the pact and Brad Keselowski was behind him when another driver Greg Biffle, who was nowhere near the lead, wrecked towards the end of the line. This had the audience anticipate a caution to be raised, which would end the race prematurely and would pronouce Kurt Busch, who was leading, to be the winner of the race.

While fans were certain for the anticipated actions to be made, no caution was raised. This led second place driver Brad Keselowski to speed up ahead of Busch, and ultimately win the race.

After the incident, fans concluded that politics played a great role in the controversial win. They say that the caution never came because officials did not want Busch to win.

NASCAR's Steve O'Donnel quickly went on an interview to clear the air. The Executive Vice President spoke on air via the SiriusXM NASCAR Radio and said that safety was their main concern.

"I want to be clear," said O'Donnell, as quoted from SB Nation. "If we can race back and we don't believe we're putting the competitor in harm's way, we're going to do that. But we'll always err on the side of safety."

"We have to look at the incident and the safety of the drivers first and foremost. When we looked at (the Daytona 500) incident and Kyle Larson hitting the wall at a high rate of speed, we felt we needed to dispatch the safety equipment immediately. That was despite where we were in the race. We needed to do that."

"If that were the case in Daytona where Kyle may have just glanced the wall and drove off, we would have raced back," he further added. "What you saw (Sunday) was one of those instances where a driver was able to get set and race off in time where we knew we had some time to make the decision. The decision was made to let them come back to the checkered flag."

To add to Steve's statement, Director for the Sprint Cup Series, Richard Buck also released a statement of his own, addressing the issue.

"We don't have any favorites," said Buck. "We try to keep every emotion out of it. ... We work very closely in a very dynamic way to identify the situation and look for the solution to it, then that solution is backed up by multiple layers. So we feel very, very confident about our actions."
