Steve McQueen Biopic In Development; Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling Rumored For Lead Role

Iconic actor Steve McQueen is getting a biopic from Lake Forest Entertainment with several actors including Channing Tatum and Ryan Gosling rumored to play lead.

McQueen battled his way through a tough early life in Indianapolis as a street kid to becoming one of the highest paid actors in Hollywood.

Regarded as the "King of Cool," McQueen rose to fame in the 60s by starring lead roles in "Bullitt," "The Great Escape" and "The Cincinatti Kid."

An avid motorsports enthusiast, he performed many of his own stunts, including the famed car chase scene in "Bullitt."

He would then later on star in his self directed racing drama, "Le Mans."

A biopic, titled "McQueen," is in early development under Lake Forest Entertainment with James Gray rumored to direct. It will be produced by Brian O'Shea and Jeff Bowler alongside Lake Forest's Graham Kaye.

The biopic will be based on writer Mark Terrill's 2010 biography "Steve McQueen: The Life and Legend of a Hollywood Icon."

It will focus on the late actor's life until his death at the age of 50 in Ciudad Juarez, Mexico from a heart attack.

"There is a diary that was kept by his nurse in Mexico who gave it to the author of the book that was done on him by Marshall Terrill," Kaye said in a statement. "Something happened in McQueen's life that has been kept secret for a long time."

"We think we have a very interesting way into this story."

A-list stars Channing Tatum (G.I. Joe: Rise of The Cobra), Ryan Gosling (Olny God Forgives) and Chris Pine (Jack Ryan: Shadow Recruit) have all been rumored to play the movie's lead.

"Avengers: Age of Ultron" actor Jeremy Renner, who tried to do a McQueen biopic back in 2010, is also in contention for the role.
