Beastie Boys Member Adam Horovitz Confirms That The Group Is 'Done'

Adam Horovitz, better known as Ad Rock in the legendary hip-hop group Beastie Boys, confirmed that the group "is done" following the death of member Adam Yauch.

Yauch passed away in 2012 due to cancer shortly after the group released its latest album, "The Hot Sauce Committee Part 2."

Horovitz said in an interview on GQ that he never contemplated continuing the band without Yauch, adding "Yauch started the band."

"We're done," Horovitz said. "It's not like a thing where we could continue without him."

In a separate interview with NME, Horovitz discussed the possibility of working with bandmate Mike Diamond again, albeit not under the Beastie Boys name.

"At some point we'll do something again," he said.

He also revealed that he's working on a Beastie Boys memoir, a project whose release date was recently pushed back to 2017.

"There's a lot of New York, purposely, in the thing that we're writing," Horovitz says. "I try to do a little [writing] every day - it's not like I have anything else to do!"

In related news, the remaining members recently dispensed a lawsuit claiming that they violated copyright law by using unauthorized samples in their 1989 album, "Paul's Boutique."

According to Billboard, U.S. District Judge Alison Nathan granted the Beastie Boys summary judgement earlier this week.

Originally starting out as a hardcore punk band in the early 80s, the Beastie Boys made their name upon releasing their first full length, "Licensed to Ill," a record that sold 22 million worldwide, making them Billboard's "biggest selling rap group" in 1991.

Members Adam Horovitz (Adrock), Mike Diamond (Mike D) and Adam Yauch (MCA) rose to fame in the 90's through hit singles "Sabotage," "Intergalactic," "Body Movin'" and "Pass The Mic."

Between 1986 and 2004, the group put out seven studio albums; six of which, have become RIAA platinum releases.
