Hugh Jackman Teases Putting On Wolverine's Claws For 'One Last Time'

Hugh Jackman who plays Wolverine in the "X-Men" series, hinted that it may be the last time he's playing the character.

In a surprising announcement, the actor posted on his Twitter a picture of him wearing the character's iconic claws, captioning the image: "WOLVERINE...ONE LAST TIME. HJ."

Last year, Jackman admitted to IGN that the character would eventually be recast, adding it was "inevitable."

"Anyone who thinks they're indispensable in this business is fooling themselves," he said.

However, he wasn't bitter about 20th Century Fox's decision.

"I feel unbelievably blessed to have this part," said the actor, who has portrayed the role seven times. "If I did another one I'm 99.9% sure it would be the last, so that will inform what it is for me."

Adding fuel to the flame, Matthew Vaughn, who at one point was the helmer of "Days of Future Past," revealed that he originally planned on recasting Wolverine. His plans got shelved altogether, dropping out of the "X-Men" movie to direct "Kingsman: The Secret Service."

Fox hasn't made any statements yet to clarify the issue.

The actor, however, is still due to appear as the character in "X-Men: Apocalypse" and a third "Wolverine" movie.

In related news, actress Jennifer Lawrence, confirmed that "Apocalypse" would be her last "X-Men" movie.

Nicholas Hoult, who played beast in "First Class" and "Days of Future Past," revealed that "Apocalypse" was the last movie in his contract.

"Fantastic" Four opens on Aug. 7, 2015, followed by "Deadpool" on Feb. 12, 2016, "X-Men: Apocalypse" on May 27, 2016, "Gambit" on Oct. 7, 2016, "Wolverine 3" (not official title) on Mar. 3, 2017, "Fantastic Four 2" on Jun. 9, 2017, and an untitled "X-Men" movie on Jul. 13th, 2018.
