Red Velvet's 'Ice Cream Cake' EP Jumps To Number 2 On Billboard World Albums Chart

Last Friday, Billboard released an article featuring newly debuted girl group Red Velvet’s new song, “Ice Cream.”

Just seven months after their debut, they have already begun to climb up the Billboard charts.

“Their debut EP has ranked number two on the Billboard World Albums Chart and number 24 on the Heatseekers Albums Chart only about eight months after they released their first single last August,” wrote K-pop columnist Jeff Benjamin posted on Billboard on Friday.

Their EP proved to be a success as they were able to enter these charts in less than a year while other groups such as f(x) and Girls’ Generation didn’t appear on the charts until a few years after their debut.

Billboard also praised the group for being able to express two different sides of music through their two lead singles “Ice Cream Cake” and “Automatic.”

This makes SM Entertainment’s fourth Top Five Album on the World Albums chart this year.

They have also recently won their first trophy on KBS “Music Bank” as well.

Red Velvet debuted under SM Entertainment in 2014 with their single, “Happiness.” Originally a four member group, Yeri was added to the group in March 2015.
