Reeva Steeenkamp's Mom Not Seeking Revenge As Oscar Pistorius' Trial Goes To Supreme Court; Canned Goods Diet Causes Athlete Over Prison Threats

Reeva Steenkamp's mother is reportedly no longer interested in the appeal that will bring Oscar Pistorius' murder trial to the Supreme Court. Meanwhile, the paralympian is resorting to canned goods in light of the poison threats by fellow inmates.

In a report from Daily Mail, June Steenkamp is more interested in the foundation she set up in honor of her daughter.

The Reeva Rebecca Steenkamp Foundation focuses on battling domestic violence, as June Steenkamp said that when she was still alive, her daughter was very interested in victims of rape and murder cases.

Reeva Steenkamp's mom said that she's not interested in seeking revenge against Oscar Pistorius for killing her daughter, but she did slam the way her daughter was portrayed in the murder trial.

"She was, in the trial, referred to as 'the deceased.' She became invisible. People forgot that someone died here. My daughter died. Horribly," June Steenkamp said. "I don't want him to suffer in any way, because he's a disabled person."

On the appeal by the National Prosecuting Authority to seek a harsher sentence for Oscar Pistorius in the murder trial, June Steenkamp said, "How is it going to help me?"

June Steenkamp has written a book, "Reeva: A Mother's Story," which recounts the model's life after her life was cut short by Oscar Pistorius. The paralympian was convicted for culpable homicide.

According to the You magazine, per the Telegraph, Oscar Pistorius has been eating cans of chakalaka, described as a spicy vegetable stew in South Africa.

The decision was prompted after the paralympian received threats from fellow inmates in Kgosi Mampuru II prison in Pretoria, South Africa.

"The austere diet means he has lost a considerable amount of weight, the magazine added, to the extent that his prosthetic legs no longer fit him. The athlete's doctor told his trial that ill-fitting prostheses resulted in blisters and infection and had caused him considerable pain in the past," the publication noted.
