2NE1's Comeback Will Follow CL's U.S. Solo Debut According To Statement From Record Label YG Entertainment

Although the spotlight is currently shining on 2NE1's lead rapper Lee "CL" Chaerin, record label YG Entertainment has not forgotten about the popular K-pop group.

On April 1, YG Entertainment's official blog published an entry detailing the label's 2015 activities, including Big Bang, Psy and WINNER. In addition, it was revealed 2NE1 would make a comeback after CL's activities for her solo debut.

"CL, a member of YG's girl group 2NE1, is going to release an album in the US in the first half of this year, and 2NE1 will make a comeback in the second half," said the entry.

"There is also a possibility that YG's new girl group might emerge late this year, after their debut has been delayed for a while."

After months of preparations, CL made her first major music stage performance as a solo artist in America at the Ultra Music Festival this past weekend.

As noted by Billboard's Jeff Benjamin, "this is a very important moment for Korea's music history."

"CL has been doing collaboration work with other artists constantly and done her best to prove her musical talent," Benjamin added. "If she can maintain her natural power in cooperation with Scooter Braun who is helping her debut in the States, she will be part of the American pop music market naturally."

Echoing this sentiment, CL is also currently leading the annual Time 100 poll reader's poll, ahead of pop stars like Lady Gaga, Beyonce, Taylor Swift and Rihanna.

This positive news should also set aside the disbandment rumors regarding 2NE1, after Park Bom became noticeably absent from major year-end activities.

"That's not true," said CL to Complex magazine in February.

"We just finished our tour and everybody gets to take a break now. It's just I don't get a break."
