Hoya Of INFINITE Announces Return To Small Screen With 'Mask' Role

INFINITE rapper Hoya is preparing for an acting comeback with a confirmed role in the upcoming SBS drama Mask.

Hoya will be taking on the character of Byun Ji Hyuk, the younger brother of the leading female protagonist, Byun Ji Sook, which will be played by Soo Ae.

Hoya's character is described as a spoiled troublemaker with an unrevealed soft spot for his family, reports Allkpop.

His role will be that of an immature younger brother in his 20s who brings many troubles to his family members, while also being a loving individual who cares for his parents and sister, reports Koreaboo.

The story will focus on the story of a woman that keeps her identity a secret so she can marry into a very wealthy family, and a man who will do everything to protect the woman she cares about.

Joo Ji Hoon will play the leading man opposite Soo Ae in Mask, a drama helmed by the writer of the popular dark melodrama Secret, Choi Ho Chul. It will premiere in May following the currently airing drama The Girl Who Can See Smells.

With another role in a high-profile TV drama, Hoya has been building an impressive list of acting credits.

The 23-year-old idol first landed an acting role in 2012 as the closeted gay character in tvN's Reply 1997, where he gained attention for his strong, nuanced performance. He then played a meta-role of an idol leader in the SBS drama My Lovely Girl late last year.

It will be a busy few months for Hoya. While his drama airs in May, INFINITE is also expected to make a comeback that same month with a speculated follow-up track to their previous title song, "Back".
