Pledis Entertainment's Super Boy Band SEVENTEEN Scheduled For May Debut With Reality Program

The 13-member super boy band SEVENTEEN is set to debut as a group next month.

Multiple music insiders have confirmed a May debut for SEVENTEEN, reports Koreaboo, and the group is preparing intensively for their launch promotions.

SEVENTEEN will be joining After School and NU'EST as actively promoting groups under Pledis Entertainment.

As part of their debut, SEVENTEEN will also be starring in their own music reality program on MBC Music, reports Allkpop. Some of the confirmed members include Mingyu, Wonwoo, Vernon, S.Coups, Wooji and Hoshi.

SEVENTEEN has received much attention for their aspirations to become the largest idol group in terms of member numbers with an initial target of 17 members.

The group has been showcasing their talents through the reality show Seventeen TV Season 2 which has been airing since 2012 through a video-streaming website. The show not only has fans in South Korea, but also international followers in the Philippines, Thailand and Australia. The reality show features the training experiences of SEVENTEEN members as they prepare for their debut.

But since that initial rush of popularity during their training days, the group has seen some line-up changes such as the reduction of members to 13.

Still, Pledis Entertainment continues to believe in the power of the reality show format as a vehicle to promote SEVENTEEN which has many speculating that is why they will be using a music reality program as part of their debut.

The group will have to work their hardest during their debut month as they will face tough competition with the likes of Big Bang and Girls' Generation also scheduled to be promoting their comebacks that month.
