Another busy week in the world of K-pop! Here are the stories that dominated the headlines this week:

SM Entertainment Denies The Departure of Tao from EXO, While Fans Debate Solo Activities of Lay

The past week included several rounds of rumor surrounding EXO's two remaining Chinese members, Tao and Lay. Since the departure of former members Kris (Wu Yi Fan) and Luhan in 2014, any sign of discord between Lay, Tao, EXO, and SM Entertainment made headlines, leading to the Chinese media reporting that Tao has actually left EXO. After initial confusion, SM Entertainment denied that Tao had left the group.

Earlier in the week, SM Entertainment announced that it would open up a company for the sole purposes of promotiong Lay in China, to promote his career as an actor. This opened up a discussion by K-pop fans around the world about whether Lay should be focusing on his solo career in China or promoting with EXO in Korea. 

2NE1 leader CL Appears Alongside Top Hollywood Stars and News of Upcoming Song Filters Through American Media

YG Entertainment rapper CL appeared in a lip sync cover of Carly Rae Jepsen's "I Really Like You" alongside Justin Bieber, Ariana Grande, and many other  young Hollywood stars. The week also brought the news of an upcoming song with Diplo, called "Dr. Pepper," and the news that CL would be performing at several days of 2015 MDBP (Mad Decent Block Party) throughout various locations in North America. 

JYP Entertainment CEO Park Jin Young's Song "Who's Your Mama?" Overtakes Korean Music Charts

The CEO of one of South Korea's largest entertainment companies overtooke his own artists in Korean music charts, gaining the number one spot with his song "Who's Your Mama?"

The newest song by Park Jin Young, CEO of JYP Entertainment, flew to the top of Korean music charts, leading to the singer-producer replacing his company's girl group, miss A, for the number one spot.
