Willie Nelson and Merle Haggard Announce New Duets Album ‘Django And Jimmie’; First Collaboration Of The Two Country Legends In 32 Years; Watch First Video Here

Country legends Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson announced that they will be collaborating on a new duets album, "Django and Jimmie." The new album will be the first time in 32 years that  Nelson and Haggard have recorded a studio album together.

Long-time friends Merle Haggard and Willie Nelson's "Django and Jimmie," will be an album of covers of some country classics as well as new original music.

"Django and Jimmie" refers to German jazz guitarist Django Reinhardt, who Willie cites as a major influence on his guitar playing, and American music legend Jimmie Rodgers, who Merle credits with influencing his Haggard's songwriting,

The new album comes 32 years after Haggard and Nelson's 1983 hit "Pancho and Lefty."

Willie and Merle will also cover each other's songs on the new record. Nelson will lend his voice to a new recording of Haggard's "Somewhere Between." Merle will sing Nelson's classic "Family Bible."

Merle Haggard, along with his Telecaster, his band The Strangers and a picker and grinner named Buck Owens, helped create the treble twang of the Bakersfield sound in country. Before he became an outlaw. Merle Haggard accepted the first-ever CMT Artist of a Lifetime award in Nashville on Dec. 2.

Nelson is a music legend who has recorded more than 100 records. He's always been an outlaw.

Haggard's last album was 2010's "I Am What I Am."

Django and Jimmie will be available June 2.
