All Eyes Are On Lay As Departure Of Tao From EXO Apparently Becomes More Probable

With Huang Zi Tao's departure from EXO becoming a more likely scenario, all eyes are on the last remaining Chinese member of the popular K-pop boy band.

On Wednesday, Tao's father confirmed through interviews and an online letter to the public that the Chinese rapper has agreed to leave EXO due to injuries and health issues. And while the future remains uncertain for Tao, EXO fans also fear that the only active Chinese member of the boy band—Zhang Yi Xing (Lay)—will leave the group as well.

"One of EXO's managers tweeted that Tao's leaving and Lay will leave soon, but it was deleted right after," tweeted 수호 on Twitter.

While this claim is unconfirmed, Lay has also deleted all of his Instagram posts hours after the letter from Tao's father surfaced online.

"Tao has ultimately agreed to leave," said Tao's father to SINA according to allkpop.

"The main reason is due to his filiality. My son's treatment is the first priority and as for the rest, that's something Tao will have to think about and make his choice. For three years after his debut, Tao appeared on many programs that held a risk to harm his health. My heart hurt seeing that the agency did not properly take care of my son's injuries each time."

On Tuesday, an interview with Lay was published on Chinese website Sohu, where the singer discussed the group after Kris and Luhan's legal controversies.

"What happened in the past must have had a lot of impact on the company," said Lay. "Everything I choose and decide now will also of course impact the company. I think the company as well as the individuals are experiencing a process of growth, changes and challenges."

Rumors of Tao and Lay leaving EXO has been brewing since last fall.
