'Shazam' Cast Member Dwayne Johnson Hints His Character Could Appear In 'Justice League' In 2017

"Furious 7" actor Dwayne Johnson, playing Black Adam in the DC Universe, hinted that his character could join the "Justice League" in 2017.

While promoting "Furious 7" with IGN, the actor was asked if his character would make an appearance in DC's team-up film. He responded:

"I think so, and I think you always want to leave that creatively open, that he could join the Justice League," he said. "That's the fun part of creating this character right now and everybody involved, from the studio, from New Line, to Warner Bros as well, to the writer, our producing partners."

Johnson went on to explain that he will have a different take on the character, shifting from Shazam's arch-nemesis in the comic book to anti-hero in the film.

"You definitely want to engage in his heroic side, but that has to be earned and with the mythology of Black Adam starting off as a slave, because when you start off as a slave, just inherently, there's things in your DNA that piss you off," the actor explained.

The actor explained his character further in an issue of Total Film (via Games Radar):

"It's all written within the spirit of respecting and paying homage to the comics. As we know, Black Adam started out as a slave. When he's given the powers, he utilized them. Then in the wake of his powers, tragedy strikes, which turns his sentiment and tone in terms of psychology."

"One day you will see Black Adam go at it with Superman or Batman or any of the DC characters." - the actor said in a statement published by Games Radar.

With "Shazam" still a long way off in 2019, the project has been slow with updates. However, Johnson confirmed in a separate interview that the movie would share the same universe as "Batman V Superman."
