EXO Manager Fined Nearly $1,000 For Hitting Fan At Airport

An SM Entertainment employee was fined for actions against a fan that got too close to the K-pop idols he manages.

The unnamed manager of EXO was fined for inflicting bodily harm on a fan t at an airport in August. The sentence for a 1 million Korean Won (roughly $1,000 USD) fine was given to the manager on April 28.

The fan reportedly suffered a neck injury from the manager's actions while he tried to stop the fan from taking photos of EXO.

The EXO members were returning from a concert in Nanjing, China in August when the incident occurred. The fan reported the incident after being injured and requiring two weeks to recover, reported the K-Pop Herald.

The SM Entertainment staff member's name was not revealed to the public, but was revealed to be a 34-year-old male. He denied hitting the victim, but remembered seeing the fan at the airport.

"I did not assault her or inflict any type of injury on her," the manager told the court.

EXO's fans, officially known as EXO-L, have been known to mob airports and act disorderly at EXO fan events. In February, EXO members halted an event in the middle due to the overagressive fans.

EXO's fans were also banned from live tapings of the weekly music show Inkigayo.

EXO's managers have allegedly used force in the past to make fans step back from the members of EXO. A video uploaded to YouTube in 2012 depicts a man who appears to be one of EXO's managers hitting a fan taking pictures at the airport while a mob greeted the Korean idols walking through the airport.
