Kim Yuna Donates $100,000 To Nepal Earthquake Relief Effort

South Korean figure skater Kim Yuna joins the list of celebrities around the world that are extending financial help to Nepal after the country was hit by an earthquake, reports Allkpop.

The 2010 Olympic champion and 2014 silver medalist in ladies' singles figure skating donated $100,000 USD to the UNICEF Korean National Commission benefitting Nepalese children affected by the disaster.

Kim Yuna is South Korea's national ambassador for UNICEF.

"We plan to use Kim Yuna's donation for the hurt children's nutrition, clean drinking water, health, and relief work," the commission reportedly said.

Kim Yuna has been known to be a supporter of great causes. In April 2014, she donated US$100,000 to help support the victims and loved ones of the Sewol Ferry accident. She also supported the Yellow Ribbon Campaign for the students of the Sewol Ferry accident by wearing the symbolic yellow ribbon on a black dress in public promotions.

Due to her charitable works, graceful beauty and world-class skill as a skater, Kim Yuna has a long list of fans even among top idols and celebrities.

In an interview last year, popular male singer K.Will chose Kim Yuna as his ideal onscreen wife if he were to join the reality variety show "We Got Married" where a celebrity male and female are paired up and interact on scheduled dates and activities.

"I want to [be on the show] with skater Kim Yuna," said K.Will. "I can change her skates for 20 hours a day."

Jo In Sung, Chun Jung Myung, former MBLAQ member Lee Joon amd 2PM's Nichkhun also picked Kim Yuna as their ideal type.
