Neither here nor there, a member of EXO celebrated his birthday with fans while not clarifying departure rumors.

On May 2, EXO's Tao held a birthday celebration with fans in China. During the event, Tao allegedly shed tears while thanking fans for supporting him. The event was also held as a promotional event to celebrate Tao's participation in the Chinese film "My Sunshine. Shortly after the party, Tao shared a picture of himself crying on Instagram, thanking fans for supporting him.

 Tao's birthday event was held amidst rumors of Tao's departure from the Korean idol group EXO after his father spoke to Chinese media outlets and told them that Tao would no longer be continuing with EXO due to concerns for Tao's health and business matters concerning EXO's entertainment agency, SM Entertainment.

Tao's picture shows tears running down his cheek as fans sit behind him. In English, the idol wrote "I love you so much. Thank you" while the Chinese and Korean is translated as: "For those who have been at my side/believed in me, thank you. I love you."

In April, Tao's withdrawal became immintent following a series of letters and interviews from Tao's father directed at EXO's fans and the Chinese media. The idol's father said that he convinced Tao to leave EXO following the EXO member receiving multiple injuries while acting as an EXO member, without receiving proper treatment.

Tao's father also claimed that SM Entertainment's business practices were confusing and accused the company of saying things without following through.

No official statement has been made by either Tao or SM Entertainment. Weeks before the news of his father's intervention, SM Entertainment had previously denied Tao's departure from EXO.

His will be the third departure of a Chinese member from EXO, following the withdrawals of Kris and Luhan in 2014.

EXO has been promoting with eight members, minus Tao and another member, since the news of Tao's alleged departure.
