James Taylor Hits New Song Out Of The Park; JT Debuts Sings About Boston Red Sox at Fenway

James Taylor debuted "Angels of Fenway," his new song about the Boston Red Sox at Fenway park.

''Angels of Fenway, hear our prayer,'' Taylor sings in the chorus. ''We have been chastened. We have been patient.''

James Taylor's "Angels of Fenway," follows Boston Red Sox fans for three generations from the sale of Babe Ruth to the team's 2004 World Series win. Taylor focused on the 2004 World Series championship when the Red Sox broke the "curse of the Bambino" and won the franchise's first championship in 86 years.

Taylor's father and grandmother were also huge fans. The song features Taylor's wife, Kim, and 14-year-old son Henry on vocals. Taylor was set to sing "America the Beautiful" during the seventh-inning stretch. He also planned to throw out the ceremonial first pitch.

"He's been practicing," Kim Taylor told the AP.

Taylor premiered  "Angels of Fenway" over the historic ballpark's public address system before the game against the New York Yankees. The song was accompanied by a video with highlights of the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. "

The Red Sox celebratory single will be on James Taylor's upcoming new album, which will be the singer's first album in 13 years. James Taylor is releasing his first album of all-new material in 13 years, "Before This World," on June 16.

"It took me a long time to get back into the saddle of writing lyrics again," Taylor said.

Taylor told the Associated Press that he continued to root for the Red Sox after his family moved to North Carolina.

"In 2004, that miracle season, that incredible thing that happened and what it meant to Red Sox fans, and to the city of Boston, to all of New England ... it moved me deeply and I knew I wanted to write about it," Taylor told the Associated Press

Taylor will return to Fenway Aug. 6 for a sold-out concert with opener and longtime pal Bonnie Raitt.
