Kate Middleton Baby Name Revealed: Find Out Who The Princess Of Cambridge Is Named After!

After much speculation about what their baby's name will be, Kate Middleton and Prince William have finally confirmed what their baby girl's name is.

In an official statement by Kensington Palace, the Princess of Cambridge's name has been revealed to be Charlotte Elizabeth Diana. The announcement was made Monday, May 4.

"The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are delighted to announce that they have named their daughter Charlotte Elizabeth Diana," the statement read.

Charlotte was one of the frontrunners in the betting frenzy that preceded the birth of Kate Middleton's baby. Alice was also a favorite, but the name failed to show up in the final announcement.  Other top bets were Victoria and Alexandra.

Reportedly, the princess' name is a tribute to several members of the royal family. Charlotte is the feminine version of Charles, as a nod to Prince William's father, Prince Charles. Pippa, Kate's sister has Charlotte for a middle name as well.

Elizabeth is of course taken from Queen Elizabeth. It is also the middle name of Kate's mom, Carole Middleton.

And of course, Diana is a tribute to Prince William's late mother, the princess of Wales. According to Us Weekly, the sought the Palace for a statement regarding the origin of the names. "We'll let the names speak for themselves," a palace aide said.

Princess Charlotte Elizabeth  Diana was born on Saturday, May 2. Kate reportedly spent just two hours in labor at the St. Mary's Hospital in Paddington London. According to a report by Us Weekly, Kate did not have to have an epidural, and she delivered the baby normally.

The Princess weighed 8 lbs and 3 oz. and was glimpsed by the public soon after, when a smiling Kate and Prince William brought her out for some photos.
