The movie "A Series of Unfortunate Events" is set to be made into a TV series by Netflix.

As reported by Engadget, Netflix was able to secure the rights to make the movie into a live-action series.

It can be recalled that the "Lemony Snicket's A Series of Unfortunate Events" novel was previously adapted to the big screen. The release date for the film happened during 2004 and was met with a good response by the audience and the fans.

10 years after, a new adaptation is set to excite fans. Set to appear in the small screen this time, the upcoming series will focus on the lives of two orphaned siblings Violet and Klaus Baudelaire and how they learn to adapt and survive through evil Count Olaf's tricks to get rich in expense of the twins' fortune. 

The source cited above also included what the author of the story, Daniel Handler wrote down in the series' press release. 

"After years of providing top-quality entertainment on demand, Netflix is risking its reputation and its success by associating itself with my dismaying and upsetting books," he wrote.

Taking the role of the director has yet to be known to the public, but rumors claim that whoever will direct will be announced soon. In the meantime, fans are not shy to express their wishes as to who they think would suit the role. Names like Tim Burton and Zack Snyder have been surfacing online forums.

As to the cast of the upcoming series, fans are also very expressive about who they want to see playing their favorite characters. Some claim that Jim Carrey, who played Count Olaf, should definitely be back, as there isn't anyone else out there fit to play the role of the mischievous thief. However, these fans also seem to be certain about the possibility that the that the original actor and actress for the roles of Violet and Klaus will not be reprising their roles. They say that the age of new actors starring in TV series has come, and that the upcoming netflix series will follow that trend.

Aside from the rumors about the director and the cast members, the release date for the series has also been discussed. There currently isn't any official dates yet, but some fans are betting on december of this year for the series to premiere.
