Downton Abbey Season 6 Spoilers: Lady Mary Set To Find A New Man? Is Her Ex Still Alive?

Series creator Julian Fellowes has hinted that a new man might enter the life of Lady Mary and perhaps he will be the one that she will eventually end up with. Speaking in an interview with Variety, Fellowes revealed that Matthew Goode's character, Henry Talbot could be the man that will be Lady Mary's (Michelle Dockery) happily-ever-after.

Vanity Fair noted that Henry Talbot had much more chemistry with Lady Mary than the two suitors who had been ardently pursuing her -- Lord Gillingham and Charles Blake. "Mary has definitely shown a flicker of interest she hasn't much shown before, so it will be interesting as to where that goes," executive producer Gareth Neame said.

As for Lady Edith, her new man, the land agent of Brancaster Castle, Bertie Pelham (played by Harry Hadden-Paton) could be the one for her. But fans should still not discount the fact that her former lover, Michael Gregson, could still show up at her doorstep. It will be recalled that his death has not been proven with any solid evidence just  yet.

"Some faces that we met towards the end of the fifth season may or may not be coming over the horizon to break or make the hearts of Lady Mary and Lady Edith and people like that," Hugh Bonneville, who plays Lord Grantham remarked.

As for the two characters who were shown to be leaving for America -- Lady Rose McClare (Lily James) and Tom Branson (Allan Leech), there were earlier rumors that these two could make a reappearance in Downton Abbey's season 6, seeing as this was the finale season.

"Both their characters have traveled to America to make new lives, but they are members of this family so a visit home may well happen at some time," Neame said in an interview with Deadline.
