K-Pop Crossover: Psy Called 'The Only Korean Rapper In The World' On 'The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon'

It's been three years since the phenomenon that was "Gangnam Style," but a recent segment on "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" proved that Psy was still the most recognizable pop star to come out of Korea.

On Tuesday, the Jimmy Fallon show hosted a "Catchphrase" segment featuring Sofia Vergara, James Marsden and comedy writer-producer Steven Higgins. During this segment, Marsden had to guess "Gangnam Style" based on Higgins' clues, and Higgins had an amusing response when Marsden failed to guess right.

"Psy sings it, the only Korean rapper in the world," exclaimed Higgins. "That we know of!"

In February, Psy joined a star-studded lineup for the second music edition of "Celebrities Read Mean Tweets" on "Jimmy Kimmel Live," where musical guests read mean Tweets about themselves.

"'Gangnam Style is so f**king annoying," read Psy. "I want to shove a stick up Psy's ass so he can't dance anymore."

Following pop stars like Ariana Grande, Lady Gaga and Sam Smith, Psy ended the video with a comeback of his own.

"You can do it, but I still can dance," said Psy with a chuckle.

Recently, YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk shared Psy's burdens since achieving major success.

"During the past year, Psy had such a hard time," said Yang according to allkpop.

"So I told him, 'Put everything down.' I told him to return to his past punk ways and write music comfortably. 'He told me, 'I'm someone who is happiest on stage, but I haven't been able to stand on stage, so I think I'm lacking inspiration,' so I told him to stand on all the college event stages. In Psy's case, he needs to enjoy being on stage as he rests to get inspiration for songs."
