Michael Schumacher Son's Mick's Popularity Detrimental To Racing Career? Sebastian Vettel Claims He Values F1 Champion's Honesty

Mick Schumacher's popularity, owing to him being the son of seven-time F1 champion Michael Schumacher, might have some impact on his racing career.

This early, ex F1 driver Jean Alesi already expressed his concerns about the media frenzy surrounding Michael Schumacher's son. His own son, Giuliano Alesi, has been turning heads during the French F4 Championship as he won two victories.

During Bugatti Circuit's second round, Giuliano Alesi continues to be in the running for the championship. However, his exploits were not being covered by mainstream media.

But Jean Alesi said that he, and neither is his son, is not envious of Mick Schumacher's popularity.

"There is no jealously, in fact for me Mick is like a child," he told The Checkered Flag.

In fact, if Michael Schumacher is not in the medical condition that he is, the seven-time F1 champion would have taken a different approach in managing his son's career.

"I also understand the special situation that Michael is in now has had an effect on all of this attention - I think he (Michael) would not have allowed this media exposure," Jean Alesi said.

In another Daily Telegraph report, Sebastian Vettel is pining for the day he could speak with his former mentor, Michael Schumacher, as the reports about his medical condition remains scarce.

"I would have loved to have spoken to Michael," the Ferrari driver said. "I think I missed that part a lot simply because I knew he would tell me the truth of what he thinks. The honesty he had in giving me advice over the years is probably the most special bit about it."

"Most people expect him to tell me, for example, 'For turn 13 in Shanghai, try and stay on the inside', or something like this. But this is nonsense," Vettel added. "Every driver has his own style and you have to figure that sort of thing out for yourself."
