2AM's Jo Kwon, VIXX's Ken, B1A4's CNU And SHINee's Key Take On New Musical Role In 'Chess'

The Korean production for musical classical Chess is expected entertain audiences this summer with the help of four K-pop stars.

SHINee's Key, 2AM's Jo Kwon, B1A4's CNU, and VIXX's Ken have all signed on to perform the lead in the stage production highlighting Russian chess grandmaster Anatoly Karpov.

All four idols will take on the role of Karpov in different scheduled productions. The musical takes place during the Cold-War era when rivals Anatoly Karpov and American Freddie Trumper battle it out during a chess championship.

Both Jo Kwon and Key have previous experience performing in successful musicals, while CNU and Ken are newbies to the stage game.  Last year, the 2AM singer received wide praise for his role as the title character in Priscilla, while Key gained applause for his tackling of roles in Bonnie & Clyde, The Three Musketeers, and Zorro.

The curtains for Chess go up on June 19 at the Sejong Center for the Performing Arts in Gwanghwamun, central Seoul.
