Kim Hyun Joong’s Lawyer States There Will Be No Settlement In Lawsuit With Singer's Ex-Girlfriend

Kim Hyun Joong's lawyer commented on the recent $1.48 million damage lawsuit brought on by the star's pregnant ex-girlfriend.

In April, Kim Hyun Joong was reportedly sued by his ex-girlfriend Ms.Choi, who is expected to give birth to his child in September, for emotional distress caused by her pregnancy.

Ms. Choi gained public attention in August 2014 when she sued Kim Hyun Joong for assault and battery and later dropped the charges. However, news of her pregnancy became public in February 2015 and rumors about her reunion with Kim Hyun Joong surfaced.

Kim Hyun Joong's agency clarified the rumors stating that they are not together and that the news of her pregnancy was a one-sided notice to them as well. Ms. Choi responded by saying that Kim Hyun Joong is indeed the father and she has proof.

Kim Hyun Joong's lawyer added, "Kim Hyun Joong sent several messages to her asking for her plans and said that as the child's father, he will take legal steps if she doesn't make her decisions. After that, he was notified of the $1.48 million lawsuit in early April."

Regarding Ms. Choi's claims, another lawyer commented during television show Night of TV Entertainment, "Compensation for emotional distress is paid in tens of thousands of dollars. I think she knows that she won't actually receive $1.48 million. I feel that the amount is a representation of how excruciatingly painful she feels."

Kim Hyun Joong's lawyer stated, "There are concerns over this case as Kim Hyun Joong is about to enlist in the military. But civil courts allow lawyers to cover the cases on their own. Kim Hyun Joong wishes to do a paternity test and take a full responsibility of the child if he really is the father."

"We have no plans to settle with Ms. Choi," the lawyer added.

Kim Hyun Joong's military enlistment date is scheduled for May 12th, and his agency stated that he will not hold any public events on that day.
