New K-Pop Boy Band Monsta X To Debut This Week With Self-Produced Songs

A new male idol group will debut with self-made songs.

On May 10, Starship Entertainment revealed the preview video of its latest idol group, Monsta X. The video featured short teasers from the seven songs off of Monsta X’s first album, Trespass.

The track listing showed that all but two of Monsta X’s debut songs were co-created by members of the seven-member boy band.

The members of Monsta X displayed their creative skills through the survival show, No.Mercy, where the men competed for spots in Starship Entertainment’s next group.
Rapper Jooheon was the most involved member. Jooheon produced and composed several songs, including “One Love,” “Steal Your Heart,” and “Blue Moon.” He also wrote lyrics on many songs, as did Monsta X’s other rapper, I.M.

Vocalists Kihyun and Wonho also wrote lyrics for several songs, and Kihyun co-composed “No Exit.”

Along with the involvement of Monsta X in their debut album, popular Korean artists like Mad Clown, Rhymer, and SISTAR’s Dasom also participated in creating the album.

Two songs from the album, "No Exit" and  “Interstellar” featuring Yella Diamond, were previously revealed on the survival show, No.Mercy.

On May 7, Starship Entertainment released the music video teaser for “Trespass,” and promised that Monsta X “will make the listeners’ heart beat.”
Monsta X’s “Trespass” will be released on May 14, and be preceded by the group’s debut showcase on May 13.

The idol group is Starship Entertainments second male idol group, following after Boyfriend, who debuted in 2011. Some members of Monsta X debuted in the pre-debut group NuBoyz under sub-label Starship X.
