Roy Kim Becomes 1st Foreign Artist To Receive Invite To Taiwan’s 2015 Hito Music Awards

K-Pop singer Roy Kim has been invited to Taiwan’s 2015 Hito Music Awards.

It is the first time a non-Chinese celebrity has been invited to this popular music awards ceremony.

This award ceremony began in 2003 and has become an event that all Taiwanese singers have attended at least once in their career as it is one of the biggest shows in Taiwan.

Kim received much love in Taiwan through his second album, “Home,” as well as his original soundtrack for the drama, “Pinocchio.”

“I was so happy and excited to be invited to such an important event in Taiwan,” said Roy Kim posted on OSEN on Monday. “I received so much love last year when I visited. I want to show my best side again this time too.”

This past April, Kim performed at the Global Citizen 2015 Earth Day concert in Washington DC and was recognized and featured in various media including the Washington Post.

During the interview with the Post, he explained that although he loves music, he still saw value in a college education.

"I've spent more of my life trying to get into school than trying to be a musician so it would be a waste if I stopped now," Kim said during an interview posted on the Washington Post website on May 1.

At the end of this month, he will be appearing at the 9th annual Seoul Jazz Festival in Seoul.
