Clara Suspected Of Blackmailing Polaris Entertainment CEO

A legal investigation is reportedly underway to determine whether actress Clara blackmailed Lee Kyu Tae, the CEO of her former agency, Polaris Entertainment.

On May 13, the Seoul Central District Prosecutors' Office said that they had summoned Clara as part of an official investigation relating to a blackmailing charge filed against her, reports Allkpop.

During her appearance that day, Clara reportedly denied all claims in the blackmailing charge, including allegations that she sent the CEO a certificate of documents and threatened to call the police in order to gain leverage over her current lawsuit, which seeks to nullify her contract.

Clara has accused the CEO of sexual harassment and subsequently filed to nullify her contract. "I felt sexually harassed by the agency president's text messages and more," she reportedly said on her official complaint.

But in January, the agency released alleged text conversations she had with the CEO in an attempt to weaken her case. Clara's attorney has countered that the messages had been altered and claimed that only around 70% of the messages were true.

In March, Lee Kyu Tae, who was also the president of Ilkwang, the parent company of Polaris Entertainment, was arrested in a separate investigation for alleged embezzlement and overcharging over military contracts entered into by Ilkwang. Police reportedly raided the group headquarters, confiscating internal documents and other files.
