Yoo Seung Jun To Discuss Military Evasion Scandal In AfreecaTV Interview On Tuesday

Yoo Seung Jun also known as Steve Yoo will be breaking his decade-long silence regarding his military evasion scandal and subsequent deportation in a scheduled television interview on Tuesday, May 19.

The former bestselling K-pop artist and current actor in China announced the tell-all interview via his Weibo account on May 12, reports Koreaboo, promising to reveal the truth on why he left the country back in 2002.

"Hello everyone. This is Yoo Seung Jun. Do you guys remember me? It has already been 13 years since I left South Korea. Now, I dare to try to stand again in front of you all. I am nervous, but I will be truthful and honest in front of you all cautiously. I will tell the truth and the truth only," he said.

"Because it is so late and that it took so long for me to this, I am sincerely sorry. I will meet you all on May 19th 10:30 PM. Yoo Seung Jun, he added.

In 2002, Yoo Seung Jun was accused of evading mandatory military service. Despite his popularity in South Korea and record-breaking sales of more than 5 million records sold, the artist chose to become a naturalized citizen in the United States and renounced his South Korean citizenship, according to KPopHerald.

Deeming Yoo Seung Jun's moves as tantamount to desertion, the South Korean government banned the actor from returning and stepping foot in the country.

The interview will be conducted by Shin Hyun Won Productions and aired live on AfreecaTV. "The interview will be about Steve Yoo's behind story regarding the evasion of army controversy and his life since then, the production company reportedly said.
