K-Pop Destinations: Best Hallyu Places To Visit In Paris

Welcome to 'K-pop Destinations,' the series that helps readers travel across the world. We'll show you where hit shows and videos are filmed, where top performers are giving concerts, or where your favorite stars take their vacations. That way, the next time you take a vacation, you can make sure to incorporate a little K-pop travel into your getaway.

Today we're whisking you away to Paris. Not for a romantic stroll along the Seine or room with a view of the Eiffel. Nope, we're going for the K-pop! French K-pop fans are known for their enthusiasm for K-culture and there are a few spots in the city that are must-sees for visitors that are big K-pop fans.

If you're heading to Paris, put the K-pop shops at Galerie Marchande Oslo on your must-do list. To get there, take the Metro to the Porte de Choisy stop. Once you're off the stop, you can follow this very detailed video from YouTube user Melon Satang that shows the exact route from the subway stop to the stores in the mall.

There are a few K-pop stores in a cluster, including the popular Taiyou. Another required stop is Asia World Music. In addition to albums, this tiny shop has apparel, accessories, posters, collector cards, and several other kinds of paraphernalia for all your favorite idols. The apparel in particular is great at this store. Instead of instead of a boring t-shirt with a group name and tour dates stamped on it, the clothes are fresh, edgy, and fashionable - things you'd actually want to wear even if it didn't show off your love of a certain star.

Don't pout if you can't make it to the store in France. Both Taiyou and Asia World Music have great websites where you can browse and buy items - they ship to several countries around the world.

Once you're done shopping, there's good news for French tourists who may feel a little sluggish after a vacation full of decadent French bread and desserts. Jié Kpop dance Paris is a dance studio in the heart of town that offers K-pop dance classes. Some of the routines that students have learned recently include the dances to Miss A's hits like 'Love Song' and Red Velvet's 'Ice Cream Cake.' The classes are open to dancers of all skill levels. You can get more information at their website, which also includes videos and tutorials for those of us not lucky enough to attend a class in Paris.

Hungry after your dance session? It's unlikely you'd get sick of French food, but in case you want to round out your Korean-themed day in France with a Korean dinner, check out Bong for a delicious meal of Korean barbeque.

These probably aren't the stops that a Paris guidebook will steer you towards, since the city has so much to offer in other areas. But checking out some of the city's K-pop hubs could be a great way to see a unique side of Seoul, meet some fellow K-pop fans or new friends, and recognize the similarities and differences between fans across the world. Bon voyage on your Paris K-pop journey!
