'Independence Day 2' Cast Member Vivica A. Fox Offers New Character Details

"Kill Bill" actress Vivica A. Fox dishes the latest on her "Independence Day 2" character.

In an exclusive with Blackfilm, the "Independence Day" star revealed that her character has moved forward since the first film.

"I will not be on the poll," Fox said. "She was a stripper with a heart of gold, and who had said that she was doing it because the money was good. Now she's a hospital administrator and she's running the hospital, and I'm glad that they moved her character forward as a woman."

In a separate interview with mLive, she confirms that "the aliens are back, and it's about 15 years later."

Fox joins returning cast members Bill Pullman as former U.S. president Thomas J. Whitmore and Jeff Goldblum as MIT alum-turned-cable guy Dave Levinson.

Will Smith, who starred lead as fighter pilot Steve Hiller in the first film, declined to participate in "Independence Day 2," saying he wasn't a "sequel guy."

New franchise cast members include rising talent Jessi Usher (Survivor's Remorse), who will be taking on the role of Fox's son, Sela Ward (Gone Girl) as the U.S. president, and Liam Hemsworth (The Hunger Games: Mockingjay) in an unconfirmed role.

Additionally, Maika Monroe of hit horror flick "It Follows" has been added to the cast, as well Charlotte Gainsbourg, popularly known for starring in Lars Von Trier's "Nymphomaniac," marking the intenational star's debut in a big-budget Hollywood film.

"Independence Day" became a box office hit in 1996 and has grossed a combined domestic and global total of $817,400,891, at that time the second highest grossing film of all time. The film also won an Academy Award for Best Visual Effects.

Twentieth Century Fox's "Independence Day 2" is directed by Roland Emmerich and will release in theaters on Jun. 24, 2016.
