Starship Entertainment Expands Hallyu Influence With Acquisition Of Actor Agency King Kong Entertainment

Starship Entertainment seems determined to become a powerhouse entertainment agency not only for K-pop artists but also actors, with reports that it has acquired King Kong Entertainment, which is home to many popular actors.

Starship Entertainment has reportedly formed a strategic partnership with King Kong Entertainment with the former purchasing all the shares of the latter, reports Koreaboo.

Still, despite the full acquisition by Starship Entertainment, King Kong Entertainment is expected to operate independently.

The acquisition is seen as a way to strengthen Starship Entertainment's market penetration and operations in Asia through the synergy with King Kong Entertainment's popular lineup of actors.

King Kong Entertainment entertainers include Yoo Yun Suk, Kim Bum, Lee Dong Wook, Lee Kwang Soo, Jo Yoon Hee, Lee Jin, Im Joo Eun, Park Min Soo, Jo Yoon Woo, Yoo Jin Ee, Han Min, among others.

Fueled by the success of its K-pop artists, Starship Entertainment has been focusing on expansion. The agency recently partnered with Chinese agency Yuehua Entertainment, which manages the boy group UNIQ, as a means to propel their artists to China and other Asian countries.

One of Starship Entertainment's biggest artists, SISTAR, will be launching their comeback in June and is slated to compete directly with Girls' Generation. The agency is also home to Boyfriend, K.Will, Junggigo, Mad Clown, Jooyoung, Yoo Seung Woo and MONSTA X.
