Will Mario Hezonja And Kristaps Porzingis Be This Year’s Busts? Know Their Game’s Weaknesses

The NBA Draft 2015 is inching closer and now that the draft order is determined, it is time to evaluate the prospects. In this year's draft, two international players are expected to be drafted in the top 10.

Little is known about the Croatian guard Mario Hezonja and Latvian forward Kristaps Porzingis. Previous NBA drafts had theirfair share of international players getting drafted in the top 10 but failed to adapt in the NBA's play style. Last year, man of mystery Dante Exum was so hyped by scouts but when he was selected as the fifth pick in the 2014 draft, he did not live up to the expectations of the Utah Jazz, not yet at least.

This year, the Detroit Pistons and Orlando Magic are projected to draft these young prospects. Both teams have a history of drafting foreign players whose games did not transcend to the NBA and they are Darko Milicic and Fran Vazquez, respectively.

Now, take a look at what scouts like the least about their game.

According to iSportsweb, the biggest problem with Hezonja is his effort and attitude. The website added that the Croatian plays little defense and his effort is completely lacking.

"He will stand straight with his hands by his sides and watch the ball handler rush right past him, barely moving to stay in front of him. When on defense, he has bad decision making skills, something that can be coached, but if he wants to come in and contribute right away he will need to show scouts he has the drive and ability to improve his defense," as stated in the website.

"His attitude is a different story. Hezonja has a big head, and is selfish on the court. He will try to make a difficult play by himself, which often times results in a turnover and a bad shot, instead of making an easy pass."

As for Porzingis,he is projected as the next Dirk Nowitzki. But his frail body frame might hinder him from becoming a star in this league.

"Porzingis still looks a long ways away from reaching his full potential here, starting with his body, which remains very frail and could make him susceptible to injuries if not developed carefully. He also lacks something in the ways of toughness and awareness, as he tends to avoid contact in the paint and regularly gets pushed around on the interior, not always offering up as much resistance as you might hope. The game moves a little too fast for him at times, and he doesn't appear to be the quickest thinker around, often looking a half-step slow in his reaction time. All of these things show up in his surprisingly pedestrian rebounding numbers (2.4 offensive and 5.8 defensive per-40)." As per NBA Draft Express.
