SM Entertainment Confirms 'Ongoing Negotiations' Regarding EXO's Tao

There's nothing more awful than to hear that your favorite musical group is breaking up.

But then again, it may be worse than not knowing if your favorite member of said group is staying or going.

On the cusp of EXO's next promotional period, SM Entertainment has taken the opportunity to set the record straight regarding whether Tao will be leaving the group. Unfortunately, the K-pop record label could only confirm that they are still negotiating with Tao on his future.

"It cannot be confirmed whether Tao is staying or leaving. Negotiations are still ongoing," said the SM Entertainment Representative (via Koreaboo).

The SM Representative also confirmed previous reports that Tao would not be joining EXO in their promotions for the "Exodus" repackaged album entitled "Love Me Right." The album is set for release on June 3, and will include four new songs in addition to the original tracks from "Exodus."

Tao's membership in EXO became questionable after he returned to China due to an ongoing ankle injury. His father then posted a heartfelt letter on Weibo, explaining his wish for Tao to leave the group due to his worsening injuries. Tao himself did not confirm that he'd leave EXO and instead has focused on more relaxed appearances, including a Birthday event in China.

As for what Tao will be doing instead of the "Let Me Do Right" promotions, Tao is set to appear at an event for his recent endorsement by mobile game "Chao Shen Zhan Dui" in China.

Despite the sad news regarding Tao's placement in EXO, the group members have remained supportive of each other through out the controversy. The support of the members has been reflected by continued support from EXO-Ls, showing an overall mood of solidarity.
