SS501 Member Update: Comebacks, Enlistments And Court Dates

One of South Korea's most popular quintets from the mid 2000's have made headlines recently for a variety of activities. Now on hiatus as a group, SS501's members are still busy making headlines for a variety of reasons. However, the five members - Kim Hyun Joong, Kim Hyung Jun, Park Jung Min, Heo Young Saeng, Kim Kyu Jong- are still in the news.

The leader of SS501 Kim Hyun Joong entered the Korean military in May, amidst a widely-publicized legal battle with his former girlfriend. Kim's ex, known to the media as Choi, is suing Kim for 1.6 billion KRW (an estimated $1.4 million USD) due to psychological harm. Choi previously filed physical vioelence charges against Kim in 2014, but dropped the case after an apology.

Before enlisting, Kim focused on the Japanese market and released a full length album, "Imademo."

On June 5, it was revealed that SS501's Park Jung Min will enlist in the Korean Army on July 2. Park will serve in public service. Previously, Park pursued a solo music career under the stage name "Romeo" in Japan and undertook several acting roles. He also opened an online store called Royal Avenue, and acted as the CEO.

The beginning of June also revealed that, following fulfilling his military service, Heo Young Saeng is in the process of signing with CI Ent to join Kim Hyun Joong. Kim previously shared an image on Instagram that revealed there may be SS501 collaborations in the future.

SS501's fifth member, Kim Kyu Jong, returned from the military and released the song "Love Timing" with Bobby Moon and soloist Seulgi in April.

Members of the group last reunited in January, when Kim Kyu Jong, Kim Hyung Jun, and Heo Young Saeng performed together. SS501 met publicly for the last time as a whole in 2010, when the members appeared at Heo Young Saeng's final concert before enlisting in the military.

The group celebrated its anniversary on April 30.
