4 Dead in Shooting Spree in Southern California, Unknown Motive

Four are dead and two others injured after a young man went on a spree of carjacking's and random shooting across Orange County on Tuesday.

The shooter ended the rampage after he shot himself in a stolen car. Police were alerted of the situation as a woman was found shot several times in a Ladera Ranch residence, according to the Associated Press.

The shooter described only as being in his 20s was said to be armed with two long guns, authorities said his motives remained unknown and it was undetermined if he knew any of the victims or if the shootings were connected.

Orange County sheriff's spokesman Jim Amormino shared that authorities have found at least six crime scenes.

"It might have been a random thing," he said. "We just don't know."

The shootings began at 4:45 a.m. when the shooter shot a woman to death in a house. Later other shootings occurred at other locations. Next he was involved in a carjacking. The victim was uninjured however an innocent bystander was hit by gunfire and taken to a hospital.

There are reports that indicate the shooter opened fire at other vehicles on a freeway.

Next report was at State Route 55 and McFadden Avenue where he stopped as the truck he carjacked ran out of gas.

"He gets out of the vehicle, confronts our victim who is in his BMW, he orders him out of the vehicle, walks him to the side of the curb and executes our victim," Cpl. Anthony Bertagna said.

Officers located and tracked the shooter to the city of Orange where he shot himself at an intersection in the car.

"There have been other people coming forward saying they were shot at or their cars were shot at," Tustin Lt. Paul Garaven said.

Authorities did not have details about all the victims.
