K-Pop News Weekly Top 3: Tao To Leave EXO, Girls' Generation Confirm Comeback, Brown Eyed Girls Refute Disbandment Rumors

The week of June 7-13 saw several rumors relating to popular idol groups come to a rest.

Brown Eyed Girls Did Not Disband

Immediately after a slew of news sites in South Korea announced the disbandment of four-member vocal girl group Brown Eyed Girls, the quintet announced that it had not disbanded. Despite  a long absence from the Korean music scene, Brown Eyed Girls are not ending their career together and are instead working on a new album.

Tao of EXO Announces Personal Company In China

A third Chinese member has allegedly left SM Entertainment's boy band EXO. Tao was previously absent from the group's promotions since the May release of the album "EXODUS," and his father revealed that Tao was leaving the group. SM Entertainment denied the whole situation and said that it was working with Tao, but this week saw the news of a new studio in China set up to focus on Tao's career in China. SM Entertainment said that the two parties are still in talks, but many are seeing it as a sign that Tao left EXO.

Girls' Generation Reveals Preperations For A Comeback

The date of Girls' Generation's return to the K-pop scene is unknown, but the eight-member girl group confirmed their comeback through a variety of social media posts and heading to Thailand to film a music video. Several of the members of Girls' Generation also revaled hints relating to the group's upcoming comeback, and others showed off shocking new hairstyles that they will sport while promoting. 

Girls' Generation joins other popular K-pop acts releasing music in the summer of 2015.
