Disney is once again tapping Linda Woolverton for their "Maleficent" movie sequel.

According to an exclusive report on Deadline, just like the first "Maleficent" film, Woolverton will be writing the plot of the sequel. The report further said the upcoming film is being written in the expectation that Angelina Jolie would still star in it. However, Disney has yet to announce if they had struck a deal with Jolie already. Deadline simply said Disney is keeping the actress on loop regarding the project.

"She developed but didn't star in sequels to either 'Salt' or 'Wanted' but Disney is moving forward and hoping it gets a fairy tale ending," the Deadline report said.

Jolie's camp has yet to say a word regarding the "Maleficent" sequel as well. But when Jolie was interviewed by Entertainment Weekly last March 2014, she expressed how she loved the role.

"I loved being Maleficent," she said. "I was quite sad to put my staff down and put my horns away because somehow, she just lives in a different world."

While Jolie's comeback for the "Maleficent" movie sequel has yet to be confirmed, the source above claimed that Joe Roth will produce again.  

As reported by Just Jared, it is not much a surprise that Disney decided to make a "Maleficent" sequel. The movie grossed about $760 million in the box office last year.

The first film changed the way the iconic movie villain from the 1959 "Sleeping Beauty" was seen by audiences.

She was described as "a beautiful, pure-hearted young woman." But after being betrayed by someone she loved, she turned cold and plotted a revenge. Her target was Princess Aurora. As the princess grew though, Maleficent got some realization about peace and true happiness.

Disney has yet to release details on the "Maleficent" movie sequel including what it will be about. Fans and some websites though have already made their theories. One blog even hoped it would be a crossover with Cinderella's story.
