SBS "K-Pop Star" season 1 created a little star group called, 'Su Pearls'. It wasn't a huge crisis, but it was a big deal to the judges and the fans of the show. This group was made up of 4 talented contestants on the show including Lee Michelle, Park Ji Min, Lee Jung Mi and Lee Seung Joo.
YG Entertainment CEO Yang Hyun Suk had felt that they were too talented to let go and made the decision to bring them into his agency. He had also included Lee Hi into the group, but that was all for nothing as the group suddenly was disbanded.
Yang Hyun Suk announcing the disbandment of the group might be a good thing for the girls. YG has many trainees that go through the same training process before they debut and compete with many other idol groups.
Although the group has been casted through an audition program, they may still lack a few basic skills or training that they need. Having them debut right off the bat could end up being a bad decision for the group. Although the 4 members may sound good together, you never know the back story of the members.
After being casted, they did not show their faces often. They did come out on a 'digital forum' once, but that was about it.
Another piece of news leaked to the public that Lee Michelle was not on good terms with YG and that she did not come out to practice often.
After this bit of news, the announcement of the group's disbandment was revealed.
Through this short amount of time, the girls were still able to receive much training from a well known agency. Although it did not work out for them this time, they hopefully did learn that things do not come easy.
They were able to confirm their skills and what they need to work on and if opportunity hits again, they may be able to be scouted to another agency.
There are many agencies that hold onto trainees with the intentions of letting them debut, but end up only keeping them year after year with no news of debut.
In this case, Su Pearls is a happy one in that they were let go of their contract without any conditions.
They are also now able to spread their talent to other places. Although we may not be able to know all the details of what went on, we know that they will continue their music elsewhere.
