G-Dragon Explains Differences Between Big Bang, SHINee And EXO

Big Bang's G-Dragon joined anchorman Sohn Suk Hee on the June 18 broadcast of JTBC's "News Room."

During their conversation, Sohn Suk Hee asked G-Dragon what makes Big Bang different from other groups like EXO and SHINee who are promoting around the same time and have also released full length albums.

"The difference is that we make our own music," G-Dragon replied according to Newsen, "our music interests the public and they give their love to our songs."

At G-Dragon's response Sohn Suk Hee asked, "Won't this statement upset EXO and SHINee fans?"

"It may upset them but it's an unavoidable fact," G-Dragon continued.

G-Dragon then shared why he feels that making his own music is important. "I wouldn't feel confident singing a song another composer wrote for me. I have always expressed myself through song even when I was younger, I would be awkward [singing other composers' songs] compared to other singers," he said.

G-Dragon has been actively involved in the writing and composition of both Big Bang's music and his own solo releases for a while now. Fellow members T.O.P and Taeyang also contributed to the lyrics and music of their recent M-Series and A-Series songs.

However, fans have been quick to point out that Jonghyun of SHINee has also started take an active role in the production of SHINee's music, having written the lyrics for "Odd Eye" and "View" from their latest album. Jonghyun worked on the music for "Odd Eye" as well.

On the other hand, many fans are also acknowledging the years of experience Big Bang has over groups like SHINee and EXO.
