NBA Star, J.R. Smith Asks High School Girl To 'Lay The Pipe'

J.R. Smith invited high school girl to lay the pipe.

Romance was still in the air after Valentine's Day. It involved high school student and an NBA star.

Social media can cause a lot of damaged to one's reputation. For J.R. Smith, he has been known to be a wild player on and off the court.

It was a direct message conversation between Smith and the 18-year old. Deadspin showed the conversation.

The girl said, "I'm going to your game tonight. "

Smith replied, "dope."

She responded with a smiley face. He followed that with "oh really."

She then said, "oh really what?"

Smith concluded the conversation with, "you trying to get the pipe?"

Not exactly Shakespeare.

Urbandictionary.com gives definitions to phrases and words that aren't used in their true meaning. The website loosely describes "getting or laying the pipe" as having sex.

Smith said that when he says that, he means it literally.

Playing in New York, the Knickerbocker has come off the bench with sometimes clutch performances. Other times, he has gone as cold as the winter.  Lately, he has disturbed the minds of the Knicks coaching staff.

The New York Post asked Head Coach Mike Woodson about Smith's behavior.

"I'm not happy about how we played and how we carried ourselves professionally on the basketball court," Woodson said. "We can't do that. I'm not going to tolerate that. I'm just not."

An assistant coach of the Knicks and Smith recently had their differences. The coach, Herb Williams, exchanged angry words on the bench during a timeout. It didn't stop there.

Williams walked over to a Smith, who was circled by reporters, ordering him to take his headphones off while he was addressing reporters. Williams shook his head and walked away while Smith took his headphones off.
