Oscar Pistorius Bail Granted for $113,000 Released Pending Murder Trial

Oscar Pistorius is free on bail Friday as judge decided pending his murder trial of shooting his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp on Valentine's Day.

"I come to the conclusion that the accused has made a case to be released on bail," said Chief Magistrate Desmond Nair. This is four days after of hearing arguments from prosecution and defense in Pistorius' bail and announced his decision after one hour and 45 minutes.

Nair said his decision was made based on the fact that the state had not provided enough evidence to prove that Pistorius was a flight risk.

Pistorius charged with one count of premeditated murder said he shot Reeva Steenkamp by accident, thinking she was an intruder in his home.

Nair set the bail at 1 million South African rand, about $113,000 and Pistorius is to hand over his passports, prohibited drinking alcohol, and turn in any other guns that he owns. Also is not allowed to leave the district of Pretoria without the permission of his probation officer and must report to the police station twice a week.

Pistorius' uncle, Arnold Pistorius said, "We are relieved at the fact that Oscar got bail today but at the same time we are in mourning for the death of Reeva with her family. As a family, we know Oscar's version of what happened on that tragic night and we know that that is the truth and that will prevail in the coming court case."

However Kim Myers, a roommate of Steenkamp said, "I think it is important to remember that someone lost their life."

"We trust and hope that justice will prevail," Myers said.

Nair during his nearly two-hour-long statement addressed the actions of prosecution's lead investigator Hilton Both, who was removed from the case Thursday following the "several errors and concessions" and "blundered" in gathering evidence.

The next court appearance for the international athlete was set for June 4.
