K-Pop News Weekly Top 3: G-Dragon Speaks Up, 2PM Comeback, Lee Seung Gi's Return

The week of June 14-20 was a quiet one for K-pop, with only one major comeback by a popular idol group, but was filled with tidbits into the life and mindset of one famous Korean idol. The week rounded up with a funny anecdote about why a top soloist had to change a title of one of his songs.

G-Dragon Sat Down For A News Interview

While K-pop idols often are featured in interviews, Big Bang's leader G-Dragon sat down with Korean reporter/anchor Son Suk-hee  of JTBC News. During the interview, G-Dragon touched on numerous sensitive issues, including his past drug issues, his future military enlistment, and the difference between Big Bang and other Korean idol groups. The interview gained attention from fans of both G-Dragon and other acts due to the topics that were discussed.

G-Dragon sat down for the interview to discuss Big Bang's career after the YG Entertainment act released two new singles, "Bang Bang Bang" and "We Like 2 Party" on June 1. The quintet will release an additional two singles on July 1.

2PM Made Their Comeback, Continuing JYP Entertainment's Growth In 2015

After months out of the spotlight, JYP Entertainment's male idol group 2PM released a new album, with the title song "Our House." The music video was viewed over X times within the first week of release, and is the group's first release since 2014's "Go Crazy." 

2PM is one of several JYP Entertainment acts in 2015 to make a highly successful comeback in 2015. The year previously saw widely praised releases from YP Entertainment's CEO Park Jin Young, female idol group miss A, and solo singer Baek Ah Yeon. 

Lee Seung Gi Changed His Song Because of EXID's Popularity

Solo singer and actor made his comeback with "And Goodbye," and revealed this week that one of his songs had to be changed after EXID shot to popularity. Thanks to a fancam of a performance of their song "Up & Down," EXID, and in particular the group's member Hani, became popular in South Korea. Lee Seung Gi's song "Hani" was originally meant to be an updated version of the famous hit "Honey," by Parki Jin Young (the CEO of JYP Entertainment.)
