Shinhwa Remains Group To Beat In KpopStarz Mid-Year Polls

Polls for KPopStarz's Mid-Year Awards are still open and the votes keep pouring in. There have been quite a few upsets since yesterday's recap; however Shinhwa remains the group to beat as they hold the number one position in all three categories.

Coming in with 33.91 percent of the votes, Shinhwa's grip on first in the category of Best K-Pop Group seems iron-clad. Super Junior widens the gap between second and third, claiming 17.07 percent of the votes for themselves while INFINITE holds on to third with 14.87 percent.

EXO stills holds 10.53 percent of the votes, which keeps them comfortably settled at fourth. TVXQ remains comfortably settled in fifth while BTS holds steady in sixth. Coming in at seventh, GOT7 widens the margin between them and eighth place holder, CNBLUE. Big Bang claims ninth, a mere 0.11 percent ahead of BEAST who still holds on at tenth.

In the category of Best K-Pop Song, Shinhwa's "Sniper" clinches first with 40.93 percent of the votes however the battle for second has become fierce. With 0.07 percent of a difference standing between INFINITE H's "Pretty" and EXO's "Call Me Baby" the two songs find themselves locked in a back-and-forth battle as one claims second and the other promptly takes it back. Today INFINITE H's "Pretty" claims the second place position but for how long? Coming in with 10.9 percent of the votes, EXO's "Call Me Baby" doesn't seem ready to settle for third just yet.

While EXO and INFINITE H duke it out, Super Junior D&E's "Growing Pains" comes in fourth with 10.66 percent, putting them in a very favorable position to claim a place among the Top Three. SHINee's "View" holds steady in fifth while Jung Yong Hwa's "One Fine Day" remains in sixth. BTS's "I NEED U" keeps a 0.93 percent lead over Big Bang's "Loser," landing the two songs in seventh and eighth, respectively. Junsu's "Flower" claims ninth while GOT7's "Around the World" settles in at tenth.

Shinhwa's Eric still holds first in the category of Best K-Pop Artist but the gap between him and second place holder, U-Know Yunho is dwindling. Coming in with 13.06 percent of the votes, TVXQ's U-Know Yunho stands a chance of dethroning the current K-Pop king. With 8.15 percent of the votes, Shinhwa's Minwoo still holds onto third but JYJ's Jaejoong is hot on his heels, coming in fourth with 7.14 percent.

A mere 0.07 percent separates current fifth and sixth place holders, Shinhwa's Dongwan and Andy, both of whom hold a slight lead over bandmate Hyesung, who comes in seventh with 5.09 percent of the votes. JYJ's Yoochun takes a 0.07 percent lead over Shinhwa's Jun Jin, but with 0.01 percent standing between Yoochun and Hyesung, the battle between seventh, eighth and ninth is still too close to call. Claiming 3.5 percent of the votes, SNSD's Jessica Jung sits comfortably at tenth.
