SM Entertainment Denies Sulli's Departure From f(x) Has Been Finalized

Following initial reports in the Korean media about Sulli's future in f(x), SM Entertainment issued a statement on Thursday denying the alleged departure.

On Wednesday, Korean outlets reported confirmation of Sulli's departure from the previously five-member K-pop girl group f(x). However, SM Entertainment denied the claims a day later, saying that the reports were unconfirmed and that the media was publishing unfounded articles.

"Sulli's departure from f(x) has not yet been finalized," said a SM Entertainment representative on Thursday. The two sides are still holding "confirmatory talks," reports the K-Pop Herald.

The earlier reports said that Sulli was leaving f(x) in order to focus on her acting career, which predates her career as a member of f(x). f(x) debuted in 2009, while Sulli began acting in Korean television dramas as early as 2005. In 2014, Sulli appeared in two films, "The Pirates" and "Fashion King."

The other members of f(x) - Victoria, Luna, Amber, and Krystal- spent much of 2014 and 2015 on solo activities. Reports also said that the four will return in September, following the July return of SM Entertainment's senior female act, Girls' Generation.

Sulli went on hiatus as an active member of f(x) in July, following malicious rumors relating to her health and her romantic relationship with Dynamic Duo's Choiza. The two confirmed their relationship later in 2014, and Sulli returned to the public sphere but did not return to formal f(x) activities. Sulli's hiatus led to previous reports of her withdrawal from f(x).
