‘Fifty Shades Of Grey’ Sequel: E.L. James Teases ’50 Shades Of Grey’ Sequel May Be Written From Christian Grey Perspective; No Word On Book 3

'50 Shades Of Grey' Book Sequel: E.L. James confirmed that she will write the book's next sequel, 'Fifty Shades Darker,' from Christian Grey's point of view. E.L. James released Fifty Shades Darker on Christian's birthday.

E.L. James' "Fifty Shades Of Grey" sequel was released June 18, but now she also plans to release Fifty Shades Darker from his perspectve.

"I will most likely write Fifty Shades Darker from Christian's point of view," James told Lyss Stern of Divamoms.com.

"It wasn't that hard to write from Christian's perspective once I got started," James said

James' new Fifty Shades of Grey spin-off novel broke the first week sales record for adult books in the United Kingdom. The book sold 647,401 copies in its first three days. The previous record was held by Dan Brown's The Lost Symbol, which sold 551,000 copies in five days in 2009. The book sold more than 1.1 million in four days.

"We've had magnificent support from across the trade," Susan Sandon from publishers Cornerstone, said in a statement. "The excitement and enthusiasm that Grey's publication has generated is totally irresistible and I am delighted with these early results."

James's Fifty Shades trilogy sold more than 125 million copies and spawned the "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie film starring Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson.

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" sequel will be written by E.L. James' husband, Niall Leonard.

This year's Fifty Shades Of Grey movie pulled in half a billion dollars at the box office. But Universal Pictures stalled on moving on the second book of E.L. James' trilogy, Fifty Shades Darker. Director Sam Taylor-Johnson, who was supposed to direct Fifty Shades of Grey film trilogy, quit amid reports that she and E.L. James were at odds over creative control.

In February, Variety reported that Fifty Shades Darker was delayed because James wanted to write the screenplay. Fifty Shades of Grey screenwriter Kelly Marcel is out.

Dakota Johnson and Jamie Dornan are already attached to reprise their roles. Rita Ora is reportedly in talks to reprise her role as Christian Grey's sister.

"Fifty Shades Darker," the sequel to Universal's "Fifty Shades of Grey" will mark Niall Leonard's first major studio film project. E.L. James' husband has written scripts for British television shows like "Wild at Heart," "Wire in the Blood" and "Monarch Of The Glen." Niall also directed the 1994 TV series "The Tomorrow People."

Fifty Shades Darker will probably hit theaters in 2017. No release date or production start date has been set. Sources say production is likely to begin in the first quarter of 2016.
