19 Arrested at Mall: Teenagers Disturbance in Chicago Mall After Mindless Behavior Fan Event [VIDEO]

19 teenagers were arrested on Saturday following a disturbance that shut down the Ford City Mall in Chicago and left two people with minor injuries.

The disturbance occurred about 30-45 minutes after a boy band Mindless Behavior performed in the food court to promote the release of their new album All Around The World.

"A group of older youths came into the mall with the intent of causing havoc and chaos and were running through the mall, screaming, yelling and so forth," mall's senior general manager John Sarama said.

Police were called to the scene and officials closed the mall minutes later however the disturbance escalated even outside, where police found a group of 100 and 200 people damaging vehicles in the shopping center's parking lot.

Chicago police spokeswoman Laura Kubiak says the teens arrested Saturday were males and females ranging in age from 13 to 18.

Chicago Police Department News Affairs Officer hector Alfaro said, one teenager was charged with battery, and another was charged with criminal trespassing. The remaining 17 teens were charged with mob action. All the charges are misdemeanors, police said.

Officials are still trying to find out the exact cause of the disturbance. There have been no reports of serious damage to property and mall reopened at normal business hours after closing early on Saturday night.

"Ford City is a family-oriented mall," Sarama said. "We have not had an incident like this [in the past], and I'm still in a little bit of a state of shock actually.

"What would make these youths come here to try and cause this kind of commotion and trouble?" he continued. "I don't know. But they did have a plan in mind."
