Oscar Pistorius’ Older Brother Carl Charged In Woman’s Death

Carl Pistorius is facing homicide charges for his alleged involvement in a traffic accident that claimed the life of a young woman in 2008.

While his brother Oscar was in court for a bail hearing in the murder case of his girlfriend, Carl was in another courtroom facing unlawful, negligent murder charges.

On Sunday the lawyer for both Pistorius brothers, Kenny Oldwage released a statement saying "There is no doubt that Carl is innocent and the charge will be challenged in court, Carl deeply regrets the accident. Blood tests conducted by the police at the time proved that he had not been under the influence of alcohol, confirming that it was a tragic road accident after the deceased collided with Carl's car."

The case was dropped originally but South African courts have a habit of reopening cases even when a few years have passed.

Carl will be back in court to go on trial at the end of March. His brother Oscar will go on trial in June.

Carl Pistorius is not the only person involved in his brother's case to be facing his own set of murder charges.

Hilton Botha, the lead detective for the Oscar Pistorius case was removed as such due to the fact that he is facing 7 counts of attempted murder. In 2011 while allegedly intoxicated Botha and two other officers fired their guns at a taxi carrying seven people.

These cases keep getting stranger. Oscar Pistorius' dead girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp was in the middle of film a South African reality show when she was killed. The show has aired with Steenkamp appearing in several episodes despite the fact she has already been laid to rest.
