News progress about Michael Schumacher's coma has been scarce although the F1 champion's manager claimed that there are positive signs on his condition.

"Other than the rejuvenation of Schumacher's website and a message in December that he faces a 'long fight,' that has largely been it. Instead it has been left to speculation and so-called 'friends' of the former driver to fill the void," said The Telegraph's Daniel Johnson.

Daniel Johnson wrote that Sabine Kehm's announcement was merely a confirmation that Michael Schumacher was already out of coma but there's "very little specific detail" on his condition.

"The updates from Kehm have simply said he is out of a coma and continuing the long progress of rehabilitation. To where that might eventually lead is unknown, but the mood music does not suggest Schumacher is on the path to a full recovery," he wrote.

Dr. Jean-Francois Payen, one of Michael Schumacher's medical staff, had said back in November that the F1 champion may take years to recover.

"I have noticed some progress but I would say we will have to give him time," he said. "It is like for other patients. We are in a time scale of one to three years, so you need patience."

Yahoo Eurosport pointed to an interview by spokesperson Sabine Kehm in May as she claimed that there are positive signs to take from Michael Schumacher's coma condition.

"He is making progress," she said, although quickly adding that "people must always keep the seriousness of his injuries in mind."

"We ask that the privacy of Michael's family continue to be respected, and that speculations about the state of his health are avoided," Kehm added.

Yahoo said that the family has been very protective about Michael Schumacher ever since a journalist tried to gain access to the F1 champion in Meribel by dressing up as a priest. But the family has allowed all the speculations by not releasing any statement regarding his ccoma ondition to confirm or debunk the rumors.
